Voicemail-to-text solutions provider SimulScribe (News - Alert) recently scored an “A” rating from InformationWeek for transcription quality and audio play back.

Recently, InformationWeek published a comprehensive comparison of voicemail-to-text service providers, breaking down the components of industry players and grading them on an ‘A’ to ‘F’ scale. The analysis, provided by InformationWeek Editor David DeJean, scored SimulScribe higher than any other provider in terms of transcription quality and audio play back. These are the two most critical areas for providing quality voicemail-to-text services.

DeJean lauded SimulScribe for its “high-quality recording and transcription” and added that its “recordings are clear and well-modulated, without distortion or static or background noise.”

“We are thrilled to have an InformationWeek editor grade SimulScribe with the highest marks of any of our competitors,” said Bill Scholz, vice president of voice recognition architecture at SimulScribe, in a recent press release. “The article adds a lot of validity to the overall voicemail-to-text industry and it completely substantiates the quality of SimulScribe’s service, how well we outperform our competitors and why we have grown to be the largest provider of voicemail-to-text services in the U.S.”

SimulScribe reports that the number of users of its voicemail-to-text service is growing exponentially. The company’s service, which works with most of the major U.S. wireless and wireline network providers, enables users to read their voicemail, saving them time and money.

SimulScribe last made news on TMCnet in June when it introduced SimulSays Beta, a free, downloadable visual voicemail application for the BlackBerry (News - Alert) 8800 series, BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry Curve and Windows Mobile devices.

SimulSays helps users scroll, click and listen to voicemail messages on their phone's display. Users can instantly select any voice message at random as well to play back with a simple click on the handset.

SimulSays is merged with the mobile phone's contact book so as to help users reply to the known caller's message by phone, text message or e-mail. The application can be activated directly from the BlackBerry's main menu. It even alerts users of new voicemail messages when the application is closed.

SimulScribe's service converts voicemail to text and delivers it via e-mail or SMS. Voicemail transcribed through its patented technology is delivered in near real-time with the caller's phone number in the e-mail subject line, transcribed voice message in the body and an attached audio file of the original message. SimulScribe provides unlimited voicemail box storage and claims its voice recognition system has a transcription accuracy of more than 95 percent.
